An hour or so later..

I just wrote a too-long post about pretty much nothing, so after posting it and thinking about all I had typed while getting ready for bed, I came to the conclusion that it was not necessary for others to concern themselves with my trivial and as above noted, too long post.

So I deleted it.

Now you will never know what it said - but you aren't missing out on anything.

So, to make this worth something, Updates:

The students start school on Thursday
I'm excited to see them :-)
I have good feelings about teaching and this year in general
I love swimming at the pool (1500 m 3xs a week - pretty good, eh?)
My life is good. Real good. (knock on wood)
I'm about 2/3 of the way finished with the blanket I'm crocheting (I'll post a picture when I'm done)
I made zucchini bites for a potluck tonight and they were rather delicious
I'm getting better at talking with the tongue crib in my mouth - hooray!
Life is wonderful - I am so very blessed.

Hope you are well!

Summertime...

...and the livin' is easy.

For reals, I love that I get to do whatever I want. I've been working on craft projects (ribbon flowers for headbands, crocheted blanket, painting, cardmaking) spending time with friends and family, writing ukulele songs, and whatever else. I'm looking forward to going on some trips (bluegrass festival, visiting my mom's family in Utah) and who knows, maybe even the moon. Actually, that might be a little expensive.

Anyways, this summer is going well so far. If anyone asks me what I did last summer, I really don't know. Minus my Utah trip, it wasn't really anything too exciting. So, to combat the "what did I even DO for two months" feeling, I've been keeping a diary of sorts of what I do every day, so that at the end I'm sure not to feel like a life waster.

Because I am determined not to be a life waster.

One thing about summer - I'm so used to being busy and having stories to tell from school/work, that when people ask about my day, and I reply "[insert reply]", sometimes I feel just a little silly. Because they go to work and do "important" things, and I mostly stay home. and do... things.

One thing that is relatively new - I have a new little sister. That is, I'm mentoring a young 10 year old girl through Big Brothers Big Sisters. She's a little shy, but she is warming up to me (I think) and we have a good time. Plus, she really likes doing crafts, so I'm hoping she will help me use all of the superfluous beads/paper/materials I have in my house.

So far, so good. Hope you are enjoying your summer also!

Tuesday’s Adventure: Breakfast and Baby Gifts

Hello again! Back so soon? I know.

Well, this morning, in efforts to rid my fridge of sliced strawberries (that I cut up for an ice cream party I ended up not going to) and to use up a perfectly ripe bananas on my counter, I decided to make… well, what do you think:

 making crepes with ingredients

CREPES!!!!

(The last time I made crepes was in Jr. High - That was a long time ago.)

Final product:

making crepes 003

Mmm, they were yummy. Strawberries, bananas, and a little vanilla yogurt in the middle worked out just fine.

I apologize for the lack-luster picture. I am by no means a food blogger, nor do I pretend to be one, nor do I play one on television. If you want to make crepes and take better pictures, go right ahead – we can still be friends.

Oh, and I have a friend that is having a baby, and therefore a baby shower, soon. I really want to make something, so I’ve spent the better part of my afternoon on the internet looking up handmade (specifically crocheted) baby gift ideas. I found some good ones, so I’m excited to get started.

Two thoughts for you: 1) The internet is HUGE! gigantic, enormous, full of information (some relevant and good, some not so much). Wow. (2) Can you imagine if someone had to edit the internet? Like, “Hmm, this bear is pretty ugly, I think we should just, you know, DELETE it, (push delete button) out of existence.” That would have saved me a lot of time, and unfortunate sightings of really ugly crocheted bears.

Well, thanks for stopping by!
